Brasserie du Park, Park Hyatt Dubai

Supper · Issue 11 · 2018 · Photography: Natelee Cocks

In short

Supper covered Brasserie du Park, the signature restaurant of The Promenade at Park Hyatt Dubai, where LW managed the interior scheme over a Meraki & Modus concept. It is the only document in this archive that records a seat count for the venue — 125 inside and 92 outside — and it names the two other projects LW and Meraki & Modus delivered on the same development: Noepe and Seventy Seventy. Pia Lakshmi Sen, Associate at LW, speaks in it.

The work in the piece

What had to work here?

Two dayparts and an existing icon. The restaurant replaced Traiteur, and the three-dimensional wall feature that had been the centrepiece of that room was kept — repainted and lifted with brass detailing — rather than removed. The new scheme is drawn from the French seaside resort of Deauville, with classic nautical deep blue and white, a brass chandelier hung with blown-glass spheres, shelves of vases dividing the large open areas, and 3D-patterned timber flooring that gives the room a graphic quality. Large French doors open onto a terrace, and wall-mounted mirrors bring the diners with their backs to the room back into it.

We were honoured to redesign such an icon of the Dubai restaurant scene. The new look is aligned with the sophisticated crowd that dines there and had to work for both daytime and evening.
