Netsu Bar
Netsu Bar is a dedicated arrival and bar experience for the Netsu restaurant at Mandarin Oriental Jumeirah, Dubai, created by LW Design Group from the hotel’s former Lobby Lounge and Library. The brief was to build anticipation before the restaurant itself: the bar reads as a destination and a threshold, not as a continuation of the hotel corridor.
What was the brief?
Mandarin Oriental Jumeirah asked LW Design Group to convert two existing hotel spaces — the Lobby Lounge and the Library — into a single dedicated arrival and bar experience serving the hotel’s established Netsu restaurant.
The operator’s stated ambition was to heighten anticipation from a guest’s first step. That set the central design problem: the space had to stop functioning as circulation and start functioning as threshold — recognisable as Netsu before a guest reaches Netsu.
How did LW approach it?
What did it achieve for the operator?
